IN the midst of a hectic production schedule, Aussie starlet Natalie Imbruglia still found time to spend with her love when he shot into Adelaide for the day.
Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns flew in last weekend to spend a lazy Sunday with his wife when she took a break from the set of the film Elise. Fan and photographer Andrea Laube followed the famous couple through the city after spotting Imbruglia at the wheel. "I spotted Daniel and Natalie and after a little while they pulled over, so I pulled over too," she said. "He hopped out of his car and saw my camera and asked if I wanted a photo of them. "He and Natalie stood in the middle of the road. They seemed more than happy to do that." Laube said Johns was |

Silverchair's Daniel Johns tells of his musical journey
Journal
2 yrs 1 mo ago
By Rod Yates HARD to think of it now, but there was a time not long ago when Daniel Johns thought everyone hated him.
In the beginning ... Daniel Johns, right, taught himself guitar while growing up in Newcastle and formed the Innocent Criminals with schoolmates Ben Gillies, middle, Chris Joannu, left, and Tobin Finnane, back. Johns, Gillies and Joannu formed Silverchair in 2004. Picture: Andrew Derby Silverchair’s first two albums, 1995’s Frogstomp and 1997’s Freak Show, may have been worldwide multi-platinum hits, but the constant pot shots from sniggering music critics had made an indelible mark on the young singer-songwriter. Turns out it could have been the best thing that ever happened to Silverchair.

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns rocks out during his band's set at the Townsville Entertainment Centre last night
IT finally happened. After months and months of build up, the biggest touring show to come to Townsville rocked a packed entertainment centre last night. Silverchair and Powderfinger brought their Across the Great Divide Tour to local fans and they lapped it up. Silverchair front man Daniel Johns played with the crowd, often stopping to make a quick joke. He wowed the packed house when he, at one stage, played his guitar with his teeth. The band treated fans to plenty of music from their older albums, including a couple from one of their most popular, Frogstomp. Ana's Song from their album Diorama (Neon Ballroom) was also well received. By all reports, Silverchair drummer Ben Gilles was popular with the females in his blue work singlet and `Stubbie' shorts. Rolling Stone names Kurt Cobain, Mick Jones, Elliott Smith among most underrated guitarists
Journal
2 yrs 2 mos ago
Rolling Stone magazine has posted a list of what they call the 25 most underrated guitarists. Taking the top spot is multi-instrumentalist Prince, with Nirvana vocalist Kurt Cobain taking the second place. The list includes a number of figures from bands like Kiss and Fleetwood Mac, but also includes The Clash's Mick Jones, The Smiths/Modest Mouse Johnny Mar, John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and that kid from Silverchair. Statistics show that the average rock fan spends roughly 4.7 hours per year arguing over who’s the greatest guitarist of all time (see: Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time). We asked you who’s most criminally left out of those discussions — in other words, who are the most |

Rock circus gets electric
Journal

A capacity crowd swarmed under the big top at Claremont Oval on Saturday night as the rock and roll circus came to town.
Across the Great Divide, Silverchair and Powderfinger’s national tour, had entertained almost 200,000 fans before this weekend and easily broke through the mark with the first of their two sold-out Perth shows. Silverchair opened proceedings, with frontman Daniel Johns telling the teeming thousands that it was “a pleasure to be back in your beautiful city”. There was an electric atmosphere in the big tent, with a mostly great mix ensuring the distinct sounds of the band were not lost despite the huge crowd requiring plenty of volume. |

Silverchair Week: Straight Lines
Journal
2 yrs 3 mos ago
antiMusic reports: Silverchair has returned with a new studio album, "Young Modern." An album that helped them set a record for the most No. 1 albums by any band in their native Australia. (This one makes it their fifth, beating the old record they shared with Midnight Oil). The band is in the midst of a sold out tour Down Under (they'll be back Stateside in Nov) and we asked frontman Daniel Johns to pick some of his favorite tracks from the new album and tell us a little bit about them. Here he is with today's song "Straight Lines".
Musically it was about making something with a certain propulsion to it like a traveling song and a song that felt positive, something that made you feel uplifted when you heard it, you know like in the spirit of Midnight Oil celebration-al. I think I was just going |

Zoo's love hate list
Journal
2 yrs 3 mos ago
Australian girlie magazine Zoo Weekly has released its annual list of the people we love to hate, with Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns taking out the number one spot.
Editors at the mag say it's a difficult job, starting with a list of several hundred before cutting it down to a top 50. 2Day FM's Kyle Sandilands topped last year's list, but it seems we've grown to hate him a little bit less; he narrowly makes the new list in 50th position. And of course, the list wouldn't be the same without the odd politician here and there: George W Bush, Peter Garrett, Peter Costello and Kevin Andrews make the list. But it seems even a new album hasn't stopped the magazine taking out its wrath on the Chair's Daniel Johns, |
