Finnish rocker Ville Valo is so scared of contracting a lethal disease through sharing microphones with other musicians - he has a blood test every six months.

The Him frontman has regular check ups after he heard other musicians have been infected this way.

Valo says, "When you play gigs, you're sharing other people's microphones and stuff, and they get covered in spit, you can graze your skin, whatever.

"I've heard about musicians doing that, and I don't want to get something and go spreading it around."

Finnish alt-metal rockers HIM [ tickets ], who just finished a main-stage stint on the Projekt Revolution tour, are setting out to support their new album with a major North American jaunt.

After shows this month in Greece and Germany, the band will kick off a run of US and Canadian dates Oct. 18 in Sayreville, NJ. HIM has coast-to-coast club and theater shows on the books through Dec. 1, after which the quartet will head for the UK.
