My Chemical Romance have revealed they want to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2008.

Bassist Mikey Way said the band already have the August bank holiday rock weekender firmly in their sights.

They headlined Download earlier this year and are now keen to play a third Carling Weekend in four years.

Way told Gigwise: "I don't know if we're actually playing it or not or if we're going to be on tour but I'd love to do Reading and Leeds. If the opportunity arose I'd be more than happy, that's a legendary festival." 

Other early rumours for next year's Carling Weekend include Rage Against The Machine, Babyshambles and Tapes'N'Tapes.

My Chemical Romance have lost guitarist Frank lero for the remainder of the band's U.K. tour. Down to only three original members on their trek across the world, it's looking as though The Black Parade will be a far sadder procession by the time they return home.

Iero dropped out of the tour this past Sunday in Newcastle after learning of a family illness. He'll be temporarily replaced by guitar tech Matt Cortez. Cortez already has some experience playing on stage with the band after filling in for bassist Mikey Way during his six-month hiatus as a newlywed.

After paying compensation...

My Chemical Romance have agreed to pay Maine University $20,500 over a cancelled concert late last month, avoiding the legal proceedings threatened.

The University’s Student Government had threatened to sue the rock outfit over lost promotional costs, fees to contractors and compensation costs from the axed show on October 27.

This led to a furious backlash from many MCR fans, who claimed the University were taking matters too far and that the band has a genuine reason for missing the show.

 

Speaking to The Maine Campus magazine, Derek Mitchell, the vice president of student entertainment, said of the agreed compensation: "It sort of came as a surprise that they agreed to do it, but at the same time we're really pleased that they understood the situation and were so quick to agree.

On stage collecting the gong Leto, the actor and former boyfriend of Cameron Diaz, called a member of his band on stage to tell them they lost the award.

America’s favourite emo punk band, My Chemical Romance or better known as MCR, will be performing here next month.

The band that is known for its edgy tunes such as I’m Not Okay and Helena from the breakthrough album, 3 Cheers for Sweet Revenge will be playing at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on Dec 9.

Tickets go on sale today at 9 a.m. for a Dec. 14 concert by the rock band My Chemical Romance, which is touring in support of its 2006 platinum-selling concept CD "The Black Parade."
