At low-budget ceremony...
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way married his long term girlfriend earlier this week, according to reports. The low-budget ceremony is reported to have taken place backstage after the band supported Linkin Park at the Projekt Revolution concert at Coors Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado on Monday (September 3rd). According to Perez, the ceremony was overseen by an official from concert promoter Live Nation who also happened to be an ordained minister. The reported marriage makes Way the second member of My Chemical Romance to get married in a low-key ceremony. Earlier this year, Way’s brother and bandmate, Mikey, was married by a friend who is also an ordained priest. |

A Mannsville teen was one of several people injured in a mosh pit at a State Fair concert last night. Officials estimate 30 to 40 people were injured during the Projekt Revolution concert at the State Fair Grandstand. The concert featured Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday. According to reports, a group from the audience was in a mosh pit during the My Chemical Romance concert, when emergency responders were called to a “Level 2 Mass Causality Incident,” which they say is standard when there were this many injuries. They say some people have head injuries, some concussions, and some people were unconscious. 13-year-old Stephennie Nichols, of Mannsville, said from her infirmary bed that people were "crowd surfing," and "this big guy kicked me in |

My Chemical Romance hits Pause

Here's some news to make any My Chemical Romance fan wear black, if they weren't already: Gerard Way says there won't be another MCR album for quite awhile. "I think it will be a couple of years before there's another record," says the MCR frontman, on the phone from New York last week. "I would say about 2009." Cue the tear-smeared eyeliner. Way says the band will go on a hiatus of sorts "to really evaluate what the band is, to reshape it yet again," following its 2006 epic "The Black Parade." That album, an ambitious rock opera about life, death, hope and fear, established the New Jersey five-piece as one of today's most ambitious and grandiose bands. But don't fret yet -- touring commitments will keep the band on the road for the better part of the |

My Chemical Romance - Teenagers

Any generation of teenagers would worship a band like My Chemical Romance. They seem to have an unfailing direct line to the most emotionally troubled of today's teens. This song is both a rallying cry and an explanation for those who are listening. Oh, and it's one of the catchiest singles of the year. Pros Irresistible hook Thoughtful handling of difficult lyrical content Brilliant rock guitar break Cons We could use one more round of the chorus Description Snarling, smirking vocals Simple but impossible to ignore rock hook Singalong chorus Guide Review - My Chemical Romance - TeenagersThe first thing you'll notice in listening to My Chemical Romance's "Teenagers" is the sure touch with |

PORTLAND'S CHEMICAL ROMANCE?
Journal

This week's rumor about the next rock demi-god moving to Portland revolves around Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. Not only is Way in business with Dark Horse comics (Way's first Dark Horse series, "The Umbrella Academy," debuts in September), but he sounds pretty taken with our town, as well. In a July interview on the Comic Book Resources Web site, Way says of the Rose City: "I'm actually moving here in September." Of Portland's creative community, Way says: "That's really what attracted me. The main thing I look for in a place to live, or have been looking for since I started traveling a lot, is where are the artists. . . . When I got to Portland, I discovered a lot of very cool artists and it's a lot more my speed. I like trees and stuff like that, too." Spoken like a true Portlander. |

MySpace/Dark Horse Presents #1 (Dark Horse)

Buffy creator Joss Whedon, My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, and more take part in the return of one of the most storied anthologies in comics history with a little help from everyone's favorite internet addiction: MySpace. FC, free; (W / A: Various) Webcomics are, for the most part, a different world than standard comics. Physically, they are in a different world. They're typically free and always online. Aside from the occasional printed anthology, there isn't anything tangible about them; they force the reader to stay at the computer. Perhaps this is why many webcomics are single-panel or short gag strips.
Adventure and superhero comics are different. They cost money, but in return they last longer and the reader gets something he or she can carry around, share, and read anywhere.
In a way, webcomics are like internet friends. They exist and they can be just as satisfying |
